Microsoft announced the Surface tablets (Pro & RT) and Windows 8 operating system at a major event in October of last year. The Surface RT tablet went on sale immediately after the event, while the Surface Pro release date was kept quiet…until now. While, good news here, Microsoft Surface Pro tablet release date is almost here and we might have a new clue on the exact date. Last week it was announced that Microsoft Office 2013 will become available on January 29th, which could align with the Surface Pro release date. While the exact Surface Pro release date is not yet known, we do know that Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet is set to go on sale in late January. Are you ready to get this outstanding Windows 8 PC tablet?
I’ve got my Surface with Windows RT last month. During the experience on that Windows tablet, I found it is great to watch videos on Surface RT/Pro tablet, but sometimes you want to share it in high definition with others and see them on the big screen. Are you wondering how to connect Surface RT/Pro to HDTV through HDMI? Here is the methods I worked out.
Surface HD Digital AV Adapter is Microsoft accessory that connects to HDMI-compatible displays (HDTV, monitor, or projector) and stream and transfers both HD-quality video and Dolby Digital surround sound to the HD screen.
* Make sure your have adjusted TV’s input settings to HDMI input.
* Turn on both your Surface and HDTV. Plug the AV Adapter into tablet’s docking port and the other end into TV.
* The screen will automatically mirrors on the TV while you are watching slideshows, streaming movies, or playing video games.
Before you can stream movies to HDTV from Surface RT/Pro for playback easily, the priority is that you should make sure the video files on your Surface with Windows RT or Surface with Windows 8 Pro are in friendly format AVI, WMV, MPEG-4 Part 2, H.264 and QuickTime. FLV, MKV, VOB, TiVo, MPG are not the Surface tablet compatible format. In that case, you may need to re-encode these video files. Brorsoft Video Converter for Surface RT/Pro is the best video app I’m using for video/movie converting. With this video app I’ve successfully converted a pile of video files in various formats like FLV, MKV, TiVo, VOB to Surface RT/Surface Pro favorable video format MP4. I’m really satisfied with the output video that brings me full-screen effect in HD quality.
Step 1: Launch the decent Microsoft Surface RT/Pro converter and then import your 1080p/720p HD videos to it.
1. Tick off the “Merge into one” box to join multiple video files into one if necessary.
2. Tap the “Split” button to cut a large video into several parts as you need.
Step 2: Tap the Format icon and from its dropdown menu, click and select Windows > Microsoft Surface Windows RT/Pro H.264 Video (*.mp4) as the best video format for Surface Windows RT/Pro.
Tip:If you wanna get 1080p output video, go to tap Settings icon and set the video size as 1920*1080 as you want.
Step 3: Click the Conversion button; the Microsoft Surface RT/Pro video conversion will start immediately at 5-6x faster speed with the CUDA/AMD acceleration technology support.
When the conversion process shows in 100%, you can get the output files from the output folder you set effortlessly. Now, you can copy movie files to Microsoft Surface RT/Pro and then stream to HDTV for enjoyment on the big screen at ease. Have a good time.
